This week in science we have started applying our understanding of simple machines to a new unit focused around building devices that move. The students have been tasked with building their own cars from recyclable and reusable materials. We will start building this upcoming week, and are in need of a few materials to help with the creation of some very imaginative designs! If you have any of these materials lying around the house, we would love if you could send them in with your child to be re-purposed.
Thank you in advance! Both I and Ms. Popis will provide materials as well, so please only send items in if they are already lying around your house just waiting to be used.
In other news, we have begun learning the parts of the body in French. The students reviewed the vocabulary through a few different songs with actions, then we created a diagram for personal reference. Our final activity for the day involved a relay race with post-it notes where teams raced to label their team members with French terms as quickly as possible. This resulted in some pretty hilarious pictures: check them out below.
- Metal or plastic jar lids
- Wooden dowels or skewers
- Old CDs
- Tinfoil
- Balloons
- Elastic bands
- Plastic straws
- Plastic bottles (empty, both small and 2L)
- Empty aluminum cans
- Toothpicks
- Milk caps
